We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful winter break and we look forward to seeing you in January!
At the table today we crushed candy canes with plastic hammers. It was so much fun to see them break into pieces and fly if we hit them just right. After crushing the candy canes we glued the pieces onto a picture of a candy cane. In the gym today we put together scooters to make a train and some of the kids took turns pulling the train with a jump rope.
We hope everyone has a safe and wonderful winter break and we look forward to seeing you in January!

Today at the table we decorated a gingerbread man using ribbons and pom pom balls. We talked about the colors of our ribbons and pom pom balls and counted them. Our afternoon class had a visitor today.....Santa! He read the kids a story about a reindeer named Rusty and then talked to each kid. Santa said that he will come back on Thursday morning to see his morning friends.
At the table today we decorated felt gingerbread men with felt pieces and buttons. It was so much fun to use a real glue bottle and as much glue as each kid wanted! The weather was so nice we enjoyed the playground!
*Just a reminder, we do not have school on Friday (K-12 has early release)! The weather outside is frightful! Today we painted over the first letter of our name that was done in tape. Once it dried, we pulled the tape off and now have a white letter in the middle of our beautiful creations! We had a great time during centers today! The kids are doing so well with increasing their play skills as well as their ability to play either with the same items or play with other kids! The imaginations are soaring!
At the table this morning we made something special for the kids to bring home next week. During circle we read our class book we made that has pictures of each kid and a description of what they are doing in the picture. We put the book on the book shelf and the kids enjoyed being able to look at it and find themselves and their friends in the book! Our afternoon class was able to make it out to the playground to enjoy the sunny weather! Please check your email, I sent out a blast regarding coat donations from the Raymore Police Department.
At the table today we put pegs in a pegboard. We saw how tall we could make a tower of pegs, counted them and named the colors. We also filled the peg board in and pretended it was a birthday cake. During our "inside recess" obstacle course we switched it up and had the kids go through it backwards. It was tough at first but the all got the hang of the switch. In our dramatic play center we added envelopes with the student's names and their sign (as a stamp) on them to the mailbox. The kids are having fun finding their mail!
For our table time today we free journaling with markers and crayons. They then told us about their drawings and writings! Due to the cold weather, we had plenty of extra time to read extra books today. We practiced voting on our favorite book then counting and comparing which had more votes. Pete the Cat "4 Groovy Buttons" won in both classes!
Have a great weekend and try to stay warm! At the table today we cut beaded necklaces apart on the small string in between the beads. It was fun to watch the beads bounce around on the table as we cut them apart. We sang an old favorite song today called "Slippery Fish" we also practiced self-regulation will jingling bells to the song "Stop and Go". Due to the cold weather, we set up our obstacle course again and had fun crawling, rolling, climbing, jumping and hopping.
It was great to see those of you who were able to make it to the Winter Event last night! |
