We built with small wooden blocks and bristle blocks. We did the Beanie Bag Dance at circle and built with large plastic pipes during center time. Thanks to everyone who kindly sent in food for the "Stock the Pantry Challenge" we enjoyed powdered donuts at snack today since we met our goal!!!
Tomorrow is Raymore Elementary's field day. We will get to use the inflatables for the first 30 minutes of our day in both in our morning and afternoon class. Please send your child in weather appropriate clothes, tennis shoes and with sunscreen! At the table today we did geometry with hammer painting. We squirted 2 colors of paint on a piece of paper, folded it over and then hammered on top of it until the paint mixed. When we opened it up we saw symmetrical pictures on each half of the paper. The kids really enjoyed this!! We read The Wide Mouth Bullfrog today.
I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful Memorial Day weekend! My family and I enjoyed Celebration at the Station on Sunday! At the table today we used used Mr Potato Head pieces with playdough. We had so much fun being silly with this! During centers we "worked" so more on our bus with tools. We got out golf tees and plastic hammers and pretended to hammer nails into the bus. We did the Brown Bear Rap again today with "Miss Nina" and also listened to her sing "Slippery Fish."
Just a reminder, No school Monday May 26 for Memorial Day! We sponge painted at the table today. We discovered a blog today where a lady named Miss Nina sings familiar kids songs to a new tune. Today we watched the Brown Bear rap! It was GREAT! I suggest you google "miss nina brown bear rap" and watch it! During center time we got out our plastic tools and "worked" on our large school bus!
Thank you so much for all of the food items that were sent in for our Stock the Pantry challenge. We met our goal of 60 items!!! Another reminder, our last day of school is Monday June 2! At the table today we hammered golf tee into styrofoam and playdough. This activity took a lot of hand eye coordination! We read "Pete the Cat, Four Groovy Buttons". The gym was unavailable today so we went outside for an extra amount of time. We had fun with sidewalk chalk and bubbles.
Please remember to put sunscreen your child if needed, we will be going outside everyday! At the table today we roller painted on sandpaper. It was a whole new sensory experience. We brought back an all time favorite book today, "Pete the Cat, Rocking in My School Shoes". The kids just love this story and enjoy being able to sing along!
Another reminder for Stock the Pantry. We have until Friday, we are in need of 15 more items to meet our goal to get an ice cream party! At the table today we glued puff balls, foam letters and numbers on construction paper. The kids had so much fun squeezing the glue on the paper! At circle we made a list of the different types transportation that go in the air, in the water, on the road and on a track. Last time we did this they were to pick a vehicle out of a basket and tell us where they go, this time it was fun to see what they came up with on their own. Bubbles even got brought up as something that goes in the sky!
At the table today we dot painted pictures of train cars. We will put them all together on the wall in the entryway to make a large class train. We practiced writing our names again today on the SMART according to how we get to school, car or bus.
At the table today we colored a school bus yellow then glued pictures of our classmates on the bus. We read the book "The Journey Home from Grandpa's House." In the gym we had fun throwing balls through hula hoops and running around playing tag. We also talked about how we get to school whether it is on the bus or in a car.
