Please check your child's backpack for information about Messy Night that will take place on Monday March 31.
As I type today I am realizing I forgot to blog yesterday and I apologize! Yesterday morning and this afternoon we had the opportunity to participate in Music with Mar. We use a lot of this music at school so the songs Ms. Anna sang with us were familiar. Music with Mar uses music to teach which is the same philosophy we use here in the early learning department. This afternoon we made it to the playground and enjoyed running and burning some energy. During circle we played a color matching game with a large dice and bears.

At the table today we did free journaling. We used crayons, markers, and pencils to draw and write. We did a predictible chart on the SMART Board. Each kid was given a different colored paper bear. They then helped create the sentence "(name) has a (color) bear." When we were finished they were able to read the sentence.
Don't forget tomorrow is the FREE vision screenings done by the Lions Club here in the Cottage. The screenings are from 9:00am-1:00pm no appointment necessary!! Hello families! Today we explored scooters in the gym. Scooters work our large motor skills. They work on balance, coordination, and they help build our muscles! We started a new song this week, Tu Ti Ta. It is from Music with Mar, which the kids will get to enjoy this Thursday or Friday. They enjoyed watching the teachers act silly with the song today.
At the table today we worked in our Goal Binders. We traced lines, shapes, the first letter of our name and/or first name, and practiced counting objects as well as naming or pointing to colors. Even though it was windy, we made it outside in both the morning and afternoon. The kids were thrilled to be outside and weren't thrilled when we had to come back in. We played a dice game and counted bears. Have a great weekend!
At the table today we cut clay. It was a stickier texture than playdough, tough to cut and great for building the muscles in their hands! Today we started reading Goldilocks and the Three Bears, did the Hokey Pokey and enjoyed getting some fresh air on the playground (this morning).
Yesterday we explored different manipulatives at the table. We explored pegs and peg boards, fine motor put-in jars (pegs, buttons, and foam shapes), lacing, and twisting with nuts and bolts. All of these activities worked on fine motor control. We worked on identifying emotions with a song and a predictable chart on the SmartBoard.
**Pictures have been rescheduled for this Thursday, February 13th. If you need another order form please contact the front office (892.1925). ** Welcome back! Today went well despite the fire alarm that went off in the Elementary this afternoon. The kids handled it well and we all returned safely to our room after just a short amount of time. Most of the kids were excited to see the fire truck come in with flashing lights and sirens!
At the table today we used stamps. It was fun using not only our stamps but also our hands! We learned a new song today called "Something in My Shoe" where there is a little stone, a ball, a bird and a locomotive in the kids shoe. |
