At the table today we had fun with paint dots. At circle we began a new song called "Primary Colors". In this song we get to act out the colors, "when you hear red, nod your head", "when you hear yellow, play your cello", "when you hear blue, say achoo". The kids had a lot of fun with this especially with the color blue! We made it outside for a bit to get some fresh air and burn some energy, then enjoyed some oranges and crackers for snack.

We had a wonderful Monday out here in the cottage. At the table we snipped straws with scissors and had fun watching them fly around. At circle we read "Pete the Cat, I Love my White Shoes" and worked on answering yes/no and "wh" questions as well as sequencing pictures from the story.
Even though we won't be going outside in this cold weather, please be sure and send your child in a warm coat and hat. It is pretty chilly between the bus/car and the cottage. We had fun making a color collage today at the table. The kids glued feathers, shapes, leathers, and tissue paper of different colors onto paper. We went on a color hunt after reading our story, Mouse Paint, at our shared storybook circle. The kids found something in the classroom of a color they were given and brought the item back to circle. We then completed a predictable chart (Mrs. Allen found an orange carrot, Mrs. Vaughan found a blue truck) on the SmartBoard. Have a wonderful weekend!
We began our new unit on colors today. At the table today we painted with water colors. It was fun watching the colors change as they were mixed together! At circle we read a story named "Mouse Paint". In this story 3 white mice get into jars of paint, one is red, one yellow and one blue. They then mix the colors together accidentally and create, orange, green and purple. We then played a game working on identifying colors.
At the table today we had fun with stamp pads and our new stamps! It took a lot of strength to push the stamps down on the stamp pad to get a lot of ink then press them down on the paper. We have enjoyed our soft and loud stick song this week. In this song we tap our sticks quietly like a mouse and loudly like a monster to the song. After reading "The Three Pumpkins" again today we worked on retelling the story by sequencing the pictures.
At the table today hammered colored plastic nails with plastic hammers into Styrofoam. This activity took a lot of hand-eye coordination and problem solving not to mention fine more skills! In the gym we got out tricycles and had fun pedaling around and racing. After reading "The Three Pumpkins" at circle we asked "wh" questions about the story.
*Now that the weather is getting cooler, please remember to send your child with a jacket/coat. We will be going outside as much as possible! Today we had fun with colored masking tape. We have a large tape dispenser that holds 6 rolls of tape. The kids had a great time learning how to pull the tape and tear it off. They then make creations on their paper. We used scooters in the gym. Scooters are a great way to work on gross motor skills. We have to use our legs and arms to make the scooter move! We are reading a Matt and Molly story this week called Three Pumpkins. It is about three different sized pumpkins, one large, one medium, and one small.
