Happy Tuesday! So sorry I missed this yesterday! Today was a great day. We glued shapes onto paper today, played with beach balls in gym, went through the obstacle course again, and played with big blocks, cars, and in the kitchen. I hope everyone has a great break. Be safe if you are traveling!

At the table today we laced the straws we cut yesterday. We were unable to go to the gym today due to the Thanksgiving lunch so we made an obstacle course in our classroom. We walked on a balance beam, walked across "river rocks" over a "bridge" through a tunnel, jumped off of a "mountain", rolled over a log and crawled under a rainbow of arches. Enjoy your weekend and we look forward to seeing the kids for a short week next week.
At the table today we cut drinking straws. We had fun watching them fly around the table as we cut them. In the gym today we did stations. We played with scooters, hoola-hoops, bowling pins and balls, bean bag toss, large exercise balls, soccer balls and basketballs. In our construction/vehicle center we put colored duct tape on the floor designed to look like a road. The kids had fun driving our vehicles on the road.
At the table today we put stickers around the border of circles and squares. We had fun listening to a story on CD called "Driving My Tractor." We practiced asking a friend to play during centers. During snack we had graham crackers, each child got to choose between a square and rectangle and then count how many they had.
Today we painted with Q-tips. We mixed glitter in while we painted! The kids had fun sprinkling the glitter on their wet paint. Be sure to check your child's backpack tonight for reminders about no school days and book fair times. Have a great weekend! We will see everyone on Monday!
We worked on stringing Apple Jacks to make bracelets/necklaces at the table today. For snack we practiced spreading peanut butter on bread to make sandwiches. Chewing sticky peanut butter provides proprioceptive input. Proprioceptive input allows children to be self-regulated. Self-regulation is necessary for learning. We incorporate different proprioceptive activities throughout our school day.
*The book fair will be at our school next week(November 18-21). If you are interested in checking it out feel free to come by with your child during our scheduled time. The schedule for early childhood is: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 11:00am-12:00pm and Wednesday from 1:45pm-3:45pm. At the table today we traced our hands to make tree trunks and branches. We then tore red, yellow and orange tissue paper and glued it onto our trees to make leaves. We brought in leaves from the playground to explore in our sensory table and began a new song this week called "Going on a Bear Hunt".
*Don't forget, no school on Friday for Professional Development. Today was a busy day! We played with a mixture of canned pumpkin, flour, and dried beans at the table. It was sticky and messy! There were a few children who did not want to touch it. They were able to play with it in a baggie. At circle time we used shakers and bells to practice stop and go and worked on yes/no and wh- questions after our story. Have a great weekend!
At the table today we played with "floam". Floam is micro beads of styrofoam in a sticky, slimy base. We were able to mold and shape it into any form we wanted. During center time we built with our large legos, we enjoyed popcorn for snack and we very happy to make it back out to the playground!
